Saturday daytime program brings family fun to Priors Creek Parklands opening weekend.
Families will have even more reason to head to Priors Creek Parklands on Saturday 11 July, with a full daytime program of children’s entertainment, activities, markets and food set to feature as part of the precinct’s opening weekend.
Marvellous Miss Mary and Zippity Zac will be among the highlights of the morning, bringing their Marvellous Kids Zone to Priors Creek Parklands with craft, bubble arts, music play, face painting, temporary tattoos and plenty of colourful, interactive fun for younger visitors. They will be joined by Library Storytime, Fitness in the Parklands, market stalls, food vendors and more across the morning and early afternoon.
Acting TRC Mayor Dave Bilney said the Saturday daytime program was designed to make sure the opening weekend offered something for families and younger audiences, while also contributing to what was shaping up as a bumper weekend across the Tablelands.
“Saturday’s program is about making sure Priors Creek Parklands feels welcoming, active and full of life from the start,” the Acting Mayor said.
“With children’s entertainment, markets, food and other activities across the day, there will be plenty of reasons for families to come along, enjoy the precinct and be part of what is shaping up as a fantastic weekend for the Tablelands.”
Saturday’s daytime program at Priors Creek Parklands will begin from 8.00am, with Fitness in the Parklands expected to begin from that time, or earlier, followed by a full morning of family-friendly activity including children’s entertainment, Library Storytime, market stalls, food vendors and more.
Events at Priors Creek Parklands will pause from 1.00pm to give people the opportunity to head to Yungaburra for the Gillies Centenary, a 100-year celebration of Gillies Range Road and its enduring significance to the Tablelands.
Friday night attendees at Priors Creek Parklands will also have the chance to see a vintage car connected to the Gillies Centenary, helping link the parklands opening to a broader weekend of activity across the Tablelands.
Saturday evening will then return to Priors Creek Parklands, with food trucks on site from 5.00pm and evening entertainment from The 70s and 80s Spectacular beginning at 6.30pm.
The Priors Creek Parklands opening weekend will feature entertainment, markets, activities and community celebration across Friday 10 and Saturday 11 July, making it a fantastic time to visit the Tablelands.
Further announcements about the full opening weekend program will be made in the coming weeks.
