Priors Creek Parklands opening weekend supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia.

Tablelands Regional Council has announced Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia as the recognised charity partner for the opening weekend of Priors Creek Parklands.

The partnership will see Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia involved across Friday 10 and Saturday 11 July, with Council supporting fundraising activities as part of the event program. The partnership is expected to include a charity presence at the event, promotion of the partnership through event communications, involvement in the ribbon cutting, and fundraising activities such as raffle and on-site donations.

Deputy Mayor Dave Bilney said the partnership added another meaningful element to a weekend designed to bring the new precinct to life.

“Opening a new community space like Priors Creek Parklands is about more than the site itself. It is also about the kind of community spirit we want it to reflect,” Cr Bilney said.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia as part of the opening weekend and to support fundraising outcomes through the event itself.

“This is an opportunity to connect a major community celebration with an organisation that does important work for families across North Queensland.”

The Priors Creek Parklands opening weekend will feature entertainment, including the previously announced SOS The Australian ABBA Tribute Show, along with activities, community celebration and opportunities for local residents and visitors to experience the region’s newest public space.

Further announcements about the opening weekend program will be made in the coming weeks.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Tablelands Regional Council as part of the Priors Creek Parklands opening weekend. The event provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the support Ronald McDonald House North Australia provides to the 1,496 families from the Cairns region, seeking support for their seriously ill or injured children, and to be part of a major community occasion in the Tablelands,” said Karen Davis, Fundraising & Partnerships Executive for Ronald McDonald House North Australia.
