Business Excellence Awards

Celebrating the region’s outstanding business operators and not-for-profit organisations, the Tablelands Business Excellence Awards recognise and showcase exceptional local service providers and acknowledge their hard work, exceptional business acumen and outstanding commitment to our community.

Nominations for the awards are open until 5pm Monday 6 May. Nominations for the people’s choice will be open from 5pm Monday 6 May to 5pm Friday 17 May.

Finalists and award winners will be recognised at the Business Excellence Gala Awards Ceremony at 6.30pm Saturday 25 May at the Atherton International Club.

Champion Business

Recognises a business or organisation for their skills and contribution to their business/organisation and to the prosperity and vitality of the TRC community. This business/organisation consistently delivers high-quality professional services that are responsive to customer needs, and has created a workplace that maximise the full potential of their workforce.

Community Contribution Excellence

Recognises a business or organisation that has implemented positive community contributions and initiatives and integrated social, inclusive and ethical values into core decision-making processes and business culture.

Customer Service Excellence — Professional Services

Recognises a business or organisation that delivers consistent and high-quality service that is responsive to customer needs including age, ability and culture. This business or organisation acts on feedback and goes the extra mile to satisfy. They have achieved growth by focusing on excellent customer service.

Eligible businesses include architects, lawyers, accountants, medical practitioners, etc.

Customer Service Excellence — Trade, Retail & Services

Recognises a business or organisation that delivers consistent and high-quality service that is responsive to customer needs including age, ability and culture. This business or organisation acts on feedback and goes the extra mile to satisfy. They have achieved growth by focusing on excellent customer service.

Eligible businesses include hairdressers, mechanics, builders, plumbers, cleaners, pest control, transport, online and home-based businesses, etc.

Employer of Choice

Recognises businesses and organisations that develop leading workplaces that maximise the full potential of their workforce. This is achieved by established policies and practices that demonstrate effective recruitment, engagement and retention.

New & Emerging Business

Recognises a recently established business or organisation (under two years at the time nominations open) that identified a market need and has successfully achieved a viable business model.

Sustainable Environmental Contribution Excellence

People’s Choice — Customer Service Excellence Individual

Recognise a business owner or employee who consistently delivers high-quality service that is responsive to customer needs, responds positively to feedback and goes the extra mile for their customers. This person has gone above and beyond to deliver added service to their customers and shows genuine initiative that ultimately benefits the business.

  • Nominated businesses must be incorporated, sole operator, partnership or not-for-profit entities located in and conducting business predominantly in the TRC Local Government Area.
  • Businesses are to nominate themselves in a single category.
  • If the nominee has won a Tablelands Business Excellence award in the previous year they are not eligible to be nominated for the same category this year.
  • Anyone can nominate a business in the People’s Choice categories.
  • By submitting a nomination you agree that TRC may use images and information according to our Contributor License Deed.
  • Non-conforming or unsuitable nominations, and nominations with insufficient information will be deemed ineligible.
  • If judges deem the nominated category is not suitable, they have the right to move nominees to a more suitable category. Nominators are encouraged to discuss the most suitable category for the nominee with our Events Officer prior to submitting a nomination.
  • The judging panel will consist of three independent community members and one Councillor. The panel will make their decision based on the information provided with the nomination form. The panel’s decision is final.
  • All categories except People’s Choice will be decided by the judging panel.
  • Business nominations are open until 5pm Monday 6 May 2024.
  • People’s Choice nominations are open Monday 6 – Friday 17 May.
