School Holiday Fun on the Tablelands!
There’s lots on for everyone across Tablelands over the upcoming school holidays between Saturday 19 September and Monday 5 October.
Aside from getting outside to enjoy the lovely Spring weather and rediscovering some of the beautiful nature spots in the region and visiting our unique towns, there are some great events and fun activities happening for kids and families.

Mount Garnet 125th Anniversary
Celebrating 125 years of Mt Garnet – Mt Garnet State School and Town Events. From bush sports to bush dances, lots of fun historical displays and activities and even a ghost-walk!

The BirdLife Australia Crane Project Event
Join ‘The Nature Lady’ Carmel, for a fun session learning about Australia’s two native crane species, the Brolga and the Sarus Crane. Come birdwatching, learn the difference between these magnificent birds, enter the Australian bird-call competition, and add some colour in the art corner on the day.
Recommended for ages 4 to 13 – All children must be accompanied by an adult.
$5 per child and $1 for parents or carers. Places are limited so register now.

Enjoy a free sausage sizzle, fun interactive activities and practical information to help you and your family understand local hazards, prepare for disasters and know where to find reliable information and support.

Curious Kai and Friends Workshop
Join Dr Sarah Pye, and some of the incredible scientists featured in her book ‘Curious Kai Asks Why, including Graham Lauriston, Australia’s leading cassowary vet who will bring his cassowary skeleton, and Maree Treadwell Kerr from the Bat Society. Don’t miss this unique hands-on adventure into the wildlife in our region.
A free event recommended for ages 6 and up. (Children under 12 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian).

Tablelands Gem Festival
Atherton Tableland Mineral & Lapidary Club Inc Gem Festival showcases gems, stones and slabs, minerals, and crafts made from all things Lapidary. A festival that gives both adults and children an insight into another world of what lapidary, fossicking and gold detecting can offer.
Entry is free for the whole family.
