Got ideas about what young people need in the Tablelands? Want to make a difference in your community? We want to hear from you!
Tablelands Regional Council is looking for a group of young people aged 12–17 to be part of Tablelands Next Gen and help shape the new Tablelands Youth Strategy 2027–32.
You don’t need experience, and you don’t have to be the loudest person in the room. We want different perspectives, fresh ideas and young people who care about their community.
WHAT IS TABLELANDS NEXT GEN?
Tablelands Next Gen is a representative group of young people from across our region who will shape the next youth strategy by working with other like-minded teens and contribute your perspective to help Tablelands Regional Council better understand what matters most. It is a chance to share ideas and discuss the issues important to you and your generation.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
Being part of Tablelands Next Gen is an opportunity to:
- Have your say on issues that matter to you.
- Help shape Tablelands Regional Council’s priorities for young people over the next five years.
- Meet other young people and work together on ideas.
- Build confidence and develop leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
- Gain valuable experience you can include in your resume and future applications.
- Help turn young people’s ideas into practical actions for the community.
WHO CAN APPLY?
We’re looking for young people aged 12–17 who live in the Tablelands region. We want to hear from young people with different backgrounds, interests and perspectives. You don’t need to be involved in other groups or know much about local government. If you have ideas, care about your community or simply want to learn more and get involved, we’d love to hear from you.
WHAT’S THE COMMITMENT?
We’re planning one initial meeting before the end of 2026, followed by around three to four meetings in Term 1 and 2 2027.
As a member of Next Gen Tablelands, you’ll help us:
- Design and test questions for surveys and other ways to hear from young people.
- Share ideas on how to promote the Youth Strategy.
- Make sense of what young people tell us and identify the issues that matter most.
- Help develop ideas and actions that could make the Tablelands a better place for young people.
- Review the draft Youth Strategy and help us share its final outcomes with young people.
We know you have school, hobbies and other commitments, so we’ll work with you to make taking part as easy as possible. We’ll share more details about meeting times, locations and what to expect when you join.
