Malanda Show Ball – The Malanda Show Ball kickstarts the celebrations for the Malanda Show season! The Show Ball first began in 1919 as a way to celebrate the end of the Malanda Show. In recent years the Show Ball has been a huge highlight on the social calendar for Tablelanders, with it being a sellout event.
Ball-goers dress to impress in formal attire it truly is a formal occasion we so often aren’t privileged to in today’s era. The Ball is a formal opportunity to introduce the Queen & Princess and Rural Ambassador Entrants to the Tableland’s community.
The Malanda Show Society each year selects a new theme, and the decorations are second to none. The volunteer-based decorating committee crafted and created magic with the bare minimum and it is always a magical transformation to the 80-year-old building. Past themes of the Ball have included: Country Western, Gotham City, Ancient Civilizations and Enchanted Forest. **Due to the closure of the Patrick English pavilion, the Malanda Show Ball will not be held for the foreseeable future. Check our Facebook page for upcoming events.**

Malanda Beef Cattle Handling & Judging School – The annual camp is hosted each year in May a month before our North Queensland Show circuit commences. The Malanda Showgrounds is a hive of activity across the weekend with the students eager to learn all they can about the beef cattle industry in the short timeframe offered. Registration numbers vary from around 85 to 120 participants depending on the involvement of our local schools. Ages generally vary from 12 to 17 years with the occasional adult participants involved as well. The course has a three-year rotating program with students divided into groups depending on their age and experience level. The program takes into consideration repeat participants, as many students attend annually from the start of their high school career to their final year. The idea is that as the years continue students move into more advanced groups and learn new skills whilst also refreshing their prior knowledge and skills.

Annual Membership: $40
