This society has a strong interest in the history of the area. Along with collecting and archiving photographs and documents, we publish local history books and have field trips and social events.
Members can borrow from an extensive library, and new members are always welcome.
We are all volunteers and welcome anyone interested in joining us. We are open Monday afternoons, Tuesday nights and Thursday mornings. We are also available for appointments outside these regular hours – please email us your needs.
We have displays at many of the community events on the Tablelands. School and community groups often visit our rooms where members present a history talk with photographs etc.
Membership is available – single or double for $20/$25 or $15/$20 for aged pensioners. Research fees are charged, at a very reasonable rate. All volunteers donate their time and many requests for information are offered for free.
The archive and research centre at Malanda and the museum at Millaa Millaa are affiliated with various history and museum groups throughout Australia.
