Personal Hygiene

Flooding has slowed and the water is starting to go down. If you left, it is now safe to come back. Be careful of damage and report impacts to info@trc.qld.gov.au or 1300 362 242.

It’s important to remember that flooding often results in opportunities for vermin, mosquitoes and other pests to thrive, and post-flooding situations decrease personal and domestic hygiene.

Follow these simple steps to stay healthy

  • Ensure you have facilities and products for washing e.g. soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent etc.
  • Regularly shower and wash your hands and clothes.
  • Wash, disinfect and cover wounds.
  • Isolate sick people and keep them away from food preparation and storage.
  • Regularly wash food utensils, toothbrushes, towels etc.
