U3A Atherton Tablelands
The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a nationwide network of learning groups aimed at encouraging people in their “third age” (generally no longer working in full time employment) to share their knowledge, skills and interests in a friendly environment. The Atherton Tablelands branch of U3A (U3AAT)was founded in March 2011. It aims to:
• Provide a service to community members who wish to continue to learn and broaden their horizons
• Enhance peoples’ health and wellbeing by delivering activities of interest
• Offer an avenue for social interaction
• Enable Members to share their expertise and interests.

Our Story
Charlie the horse was abandoned at only 18 months old at an agistment property. He was just turned out as land owners could not find the owner. He had not seen other horses for five years when the property sold.
He faced being shot where he stood, with no one wanting an unhandled, 18HH thoroughbred.
FFF came to the rescue. We had to walk the farm to find him and load him on a truck to bring him home.
His feet had not been done for years and were huge. He was so excited to see another horse, he had thought he was the only one left on the planet.
Charlie was so kind hearted and easy to work with and ride. We successfully re-homed him to a home daycare and became their mascot. He was a big, gentle giant who loved kids and would suck on their hair if they stood too close to the fence.
Charlie was the start of the FFF story, but it doesn’t end there. We continue in our efforts to rehabilitate, retrain and rehome animals in need.

Atherton BMX Club
BMX racing is fast, exciting fun that whole families can get involved in. With riders as young as two (2) to riders sixty-plus (60+), BMX is a sport that offers something for riders of all ages and abilities.
Riders race primarily on dirt tracks with berms and jumps to challenge their skills. BMX bikes are smaller than normal bicycles because the riders never sit down and need to be nimble on the bike. Riders wear full-face helmets, gloves, a long sleeve shirt and durable pants. Races are organised according to age groups and skill levels so everyone gets the opportunity to compete on a fair and competitive basis.

Atherton Tableland Hockey Association

Family-focused games are played each Saturday at Loder Park, Grau Street in Atherton.
