PCYC- Breaking the Cycle
PCYC – Braking the Cycle is a volunteer driver mentor program designed to support learner drivers across the tablelands without access to a supervisor or a registered vehicle to complete their logbook hours.
To become a Volunteer you must:
– Have held an open license for more than 12 months
– Be willing to obtain a working with children check (BlueCard)
– Commit a minimum of 2hrs per week
To become a Participant of BTC Mareeba, Atherton or Tablelands Region, we do ask the following criteria be met:
– You are aged between 16- 25yrs
– You must have completed and passed your PrepL and/or have your Learner License
– You already have a minimum of 10 hrs in your logbook (this can be 10 hrs by a family member or friend, or just 3 hrs with a qualified driving instructor)
– You are experiencing a level of disadvantage preventing you from gaining a license
– You must be able to get to and from PCYC Mareeba, as sessions will start and finish from the service centre

The Atherton Bowls Club
The Atherton Bowls Club is open for all ages to enjoy the love of playing lawn bowls.
We play every Wednesday, club selected and every Friday self selected pairs. These games start at 1pm.
Monday coaching is available every Monday at 1.30pm. -bowls are available if you don’t have a set.

Tableland Fish Stocking Society
Fishing in the dam offers a safe outdoor activity from bank or boat for families and gets kids off screens. Some of the best anglers in the district have grown up on Lake Tinaroo and their success brings tourist anglers to the region.
Tableland Fish Stocking is run by Volunteers and has been improving and promoting the Atherton Tablelands for over 30 years There have been great catches recently and the Lake holds 20 IGFA Barramundi World records.

VISION 4885 exists to facilitate positive action within our area by liaising and networking
with local groups and individuals to achieve commonly agreed goals and objectives.
We foster and assist community residents and organisations who seek support for their
initiatives and endeavours, especially where those initiatives and endeavours meet the
hopes, aspirations and wellbeing of the residents of Postcode Area 4885.

Malanda Mens Shed
Our Mission
The Malanda Men’s Shed is a community-based, non-profit, non-commercial organisation that is accessible to all men over 18 years old. Our primary activity is the provision of a safe, friendly and healing environment where men are able to work on meaningful projects at their own pace in their own time in the company of other men. A major objective is to advance the well-being and health of members and to encourage social inclusion.

The objectives of the Shed are to advance the mental health and well-being of our members and to relieve social isolation by providing a safe and happy environment where skilled and unskilled men can, in the company of other men,
(a) pursue hobbies, pastimes and interests
(b) learn new skills, practice and pass on old skills
(c) learn about their own health and well-being
(d) receive information, education and training on health and wellbeing issues such as first aid training, men’s health checks, seminars and guest speakers
(e) improve the health and wellbeing of members and reduce the number of men who are at risk from preventable health issues that may emanate from isolation
(f) by their efforts, contribute to their families, their friends, the Men’s Shed and their community

Atherton Pistol Club
Atherton Pistol Club is an affiliate of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (Queensland).
We host a wide range of rimfire, centrefire and air pistol matches, as well as rimfire rifle matches.
Pistol shooting is a rare sport where people of any age from 11 up and of any physical ability level can compete as equals.

National Serviceman’s Association – Tableland Branch
OBJECTS OF THE NATIONAL SERVICEMEN’S ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA (QLD) INC.
The objects for which the association is established are –
(1) To improve the general welfare of all National Servicemen through charitable, community, recreational, educational and patriotic activities.
(2) To promote fellowship and camaraderie between Members.
(3) To educate the general community about the aims and activities of the association and to otherwise promote the good name and objects of the association.
(4) To promote within the general community knowledge of the defence, security sensitivity, independence, freedom, military history and general welfare of Australia and its citizens.
(5) To recognise and value the service National Servicemen have given to Australia through the establishment of memorials in local community and the conduct of annual services to commemorate the service.
