Division 1 councillor by-election announced for Tablelands Regional Council
The Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ) has today issued the Notice of Election for a by-election to fill the Division 1 councillor vacancy on Tablelands Regional Council.
The vacancy was created following the election of Cr Kevin Cardew to Mayor of Tablelands Regional Council on 2 September 2026.
The by-election will be conducted as a full postal ballot, as approved by the Minister for Local Government and Water.
Key dates for the by-election are:
- Close of electoral roll: Monday 5 October 2026
- Close of nominations: 12 noon, Thursday 8 October 2026
- Ballot draw: 2pm, Thursday 8 October 2026
- Polling day: Saturday 31 October 2026 (postal ballots must be completed and returned before 6pm)
- Last day for return of postal votes: Tuesday 10 November 2026
- Declaration of results: as soon as practicable after the result becomes clear
Ms Jennifer Meizer has been appointed Returning Officer for the by-election.
Division 1 electors will receive their postal ballot pack ahead of polling day. Electors who wish to enrol or update their enrolment details must do so before the electoral roll closes on 5 October 2026.
