Tablelands Regional Council Mayor and Councillors to meet the community in and around Mount Garnet

Improving connectivity with residents in the more remote southern parts of the region remains a priority for Tablelands Regional Council (TRC).  A community road trip to Mount Garnet and surrounding areas is planned for 12 and 13 November 2026, with the aim of meeting as many people from the local community as possible.

Future meetings are intended for other central locations across the Tablelands to make it easier for farming and station residents to meet with the Mayor, Councillors, the CEO and senior Council staff.

The visits will provide an opportunity for residents to raise local concerns, share ideas and connect with Council representatives and other community members.

TRC Mayor Kevin Cardew said it is important that Tablelands residents across the region have meaningful opportunities to engage with Council. “We want to make it easier for people living in our more remote communities to have their say and speak directly with their elected representatives and Council staff,” the Mayor said. “We understand that distance can make it difficult for some residents to attend meetings or visit Council facilities, so taking Council out to these communities is an important step towards improving communication and ensuring local voices are heard.”

Council will also be taking its December Ordinary Council Meeting to Mount Garnet, with the meeting scheduled for 17 December 2026 at the Mount Garnet Hall. Residents attending will be invited to stay for a light lunch and an informal chat with Council representatives.

This initiative reflects Council’s commitment to strengthening community connections and ensuring residents across the region have opportunities to contribute to local decision-making, regardless of where they live.
