Tourism Funding
Tablelands Regional Council has recommenced its funding of the local tourism organisation (LTO) — Tourism Atherton Tablelands (TAT) — with a $100,000 funding partnership decided at yesterday’s Ordinary Council Meeting.
‘Tourism is one of the largest industries in this region and supports 220 businesses that employ more than a thousand staff across various industry sectors,’ said Mayor Rod Marti.
‘The goal of this agreement is to grow visitor nights and spend, encourage investment, and increase the revenue to region and TRC’s ratable base.
‘Data from TAT shows that strong LTO activity will regain tourism market share in our region, and the return-on-investment is estimated at $43M, and a $1.2M addition to TRC revenue.
‘Supporting TAT will bring a broad and diverse regional benefit to businesses and the community and open up funding and grants opportunities with partners such as Tropical Tourism North Queensland.
‘I’m looking forward to the benefits this reinvigorated partnership will bring to the community,’ the Mayor said.
