Summary of Special Council Meeting Thursday 9 April 2026
Tablelands Regional Council met on Thursday, 9 April 2026 to consider a range of strategic, operational and community matters affecting the region.
Budget Adjustment
The budget for the Atherton Showgrounds Electrical Supply project will be increased to $182,400 excluding GST. This represents an increase of $60,000 which will be funded from the anticipated underspend on the Ball Road Pavement Rehabilitation project. This reallocation will not impact on the delivery of the next stage of the Ball Road project.
Tenders
Tenders are assessed in accordance with TRC’s Procurement Policy and obligations under the Local Government Act 2009. Officers present Council with the details of all tenders received, and a recommendation about the tender which represents the best overall value for money.
Two conforming tenders were received for Tender T-00269 to undertake an electrical infrastructure upgrade of Atherton Pool, and the tender was awarded to Zarlas Pty Ltd t/a ELECTROPICA for $240,336.14 including GST. As part of the total cost, $49,051 will be committed in the 2026/27 financial year capital budget to complete the project.
Tender T-00339 to complete Bew Road Culvert Replacement was awarded to Stratos Civil Pty Ltd, from five conforming tenders, for $307,941.99 including GST. As part of the total project cost, an allocation of $118,268.75 will be made in the 2026/27 capital budget to complete the project.
Two conforming tenders were received for Tender T-00270 for the delivery of Millaa Millaa Falls stages 3, 4, 5 and 6 and the tender was awarded to Northern Civil Earthworks Pty Ltd for the amount of $2,643,823.05 including GST. The project budget which is has a combined external funding of $1,490,200 from the Minor Infrastructure and Inclusive Facilities and Works for Queensland funding programs will be increased by $767,090.59 to allow complete construction of the precinct upgrade. This will ensure all stages are constructed within funding agreements and within agreed timelines.
Delegation
Delegation is provided to the CEO to authorise payment of the $1,231,613.55 Emergency Management Levy collected on behalf of the State Government through rates payments to 31 March 2026.
