Council Invests $1.7M In Road Upgrades
Tablelands Regional Council approved two tenders for upgrades to the Council road network at a recent special Council meeting.
‘The $968,401.65 project to widen and seal various sections of Brooks Road* in Mungalli will improve safety on this narrow and windy road that is regularly used by farmers and visitors,’ said Mayor Rod Marti.
‘We’ll also be upgrading to a sealed standard 260m of Hemmings Lane at Upper Barron, 100m of Hough Road in Kairi, 464m of Mapee Road near Tolga, 670m of Pinnacle Pocket Road at East Barron and 386m of Shead Road in Tolga.
‘This $728,375.99 project will improve reliability and driver comfort in these areas and reduce the impact of dust.
‘Both contracts were awarded to local company BNT Civil Contractors and are expected to create around 12 jobs in the region.
‘Work will commence in early May and the project is expected to be completed by late June, weather depending.
‘Follow these and other projects at trc.qld.gov.au/projects,’ said Mayor Marti.
