Walking Network Plans

Tablelands Regional Council is seeking input from the community to help identify the short and long-term walking needs for Atherton, Malanda and Yungaburra. We want to hear from you to pinpoint where more/improved/different footpaths and connections can be established across these three townships. We want to understand main routes of pedestrian traffic and build a more complete picture of our current network of pedestrian infrastructure.

TRC will look to expand these plans to our other major townships through the existing funding program.

This survey is now closed. Thank you to all those who contributed, we have lots more to inform a detailed Walking Plan for these townships and will seek to improve mobility around our region.

TRC has secured funding as part of the Walking Local Government Grants program to develop Walking Network Plans for Atherton, Malanda and Yungaburra. This program, administered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, is focused on outcomes which achieve the vision of the Queensland Walking Strategy.

Queensland Walking Strategy vision for walking “An easy choice for everyone, every day.”

This funding is intended to assist local governments in planning for future community’s active transport needs. The Walking Network plans will allow TRC to plan and prioritise improvements and upgrades and will assist in grant funding applications.
