39 Grace Street Herberton Development – Old Battery Site
Project Overview
We are developing a use for the old Battery Site in Herberton, situated off Grace Street near the Wild River bridge. We have heard from the community about what might best serve all the residents from kids to seniors through an online survey and face-to-face meetings with students at Herberton’s schools and business and community groups. We now have a clear picture of what people want on the site which is a combination of family and wider community infrastructure.
Check out the interactive image for a look at what’s planned at 39 Grace Street. You can also see a virtual fly-through of the concept.
Thank you everyone for all of your incredible feedback, the Quick Poll is now closed. Final designs will be completed ahead of works commencing in the new Financial Year pending budget approval.
We will be aiming to name the site formally via community feedback as the project progresses.
A mineral processing plant was on this site for approximately 100 years and the last of the old equipment was removed in the early 1990s. Due to its central location, it has been identified as a potential place for community facilities to serve the people of Herberton. Over the past 30 years there have been a number of ideas raised but funding has been difficult to secure. With upgrades underway at Lions Park across the river, development of this site would be part of the ongoing connection of the Herberton township through to the Historical Village.
