Designing Malanda Multi-Purpose Facility

A project to gather community input from all current and potential users has commenced for the design of the Malanda Multi-Purpose Facility this 2025-26 financial year.

Modern, fit-for-purpose buildings support the objectives in our Community Facility Strategy 2019–29 which includes improved long-term asset and financial planning and sustainability. TRC is committed to providing financially responsible community assets that meet the needs of all current and future users.

We want to hear what all residents and visitors to Malanda and surrounds would like to see in a new facility that caters for lots of different types of use to best serve our community for now and future generations.

Click on the ‘Survey’ tab to help us compile general and detailed information on what this building may look like.

The survey will be open until 12 January 2026.

Tablelands Regional Council’s endorsed capital plan includes the planning and construction of three new multi-purpose facilities in major and district activity centres in the region.

In line with TRC’s Community Facilities Strategy 2019-29, we are seeking to serve community with more modern infrastructure and in a more efficient way by delivering an asset that provides for the many varied needs of Malanda and surrounds. In doing so, we will continue to fulfill current demands but factor in what will be needed in the future as our region grows and changes.

Heritage is a crucial element to community infrastructure so keeping the themes and memories of previous eras in the most practical way remains a significant consideration. Recognising the past as well as catering for tomorrow will be a fundamental part of designing this new destination for Malanda.
