Economic Development Fund

Our Economic Development Fund provides grants up to $5000 for eligible organisations, groups or individuals to conduct projects, activities and events that will help grow business, investment and employment in the Tablelands region.

Priority areas for funding include projects, activities and events that:

  • develop entrepreneurs to encourage new businesses and facilitate growth, efficiency and consumer responsiveness in existing businesses
  • improve the take up of smart digital technologies and capabilities
  • attract investment
  • facilitate economic diversification
  • grow supply chain capacity and value-add
  • develop catalytic infrastructure, including through creation of infrastructure business cases
  • improve education, training and employment opportunities
  • showcase the Tablelands region for tourism, investment, or population attraction
  • capture more local and visitor spending
  • leverage emerging opportunities in domestic and international markets.

Projects outside the priority areas may be considered.

Our Economic Development Fund provides assistance for eligible organisations, groups or individuals to conduct projects, activities and events that result in a demonstrated economic benefit to the Tablelands region.

Objective

To support initiatives that will increase economic activity in the Tablelands Regional Council area to grow business, investment and employment.

Priority Areas

  • Develop entrepreneurs to encourage new businesses and facilitate growth, efficiency and consumer responsiveness in existing businesses
  • Improve the take up of smart digital technologies and capabilities

  • Facilitate economic diversification

Projects outside the priority areas may be considered.

Funding

A maximum of $5000* per application is available, which can be provided as cash or in-kind contribution or a combination of both.

There will be one competitive funding round each financial year. All applications will be subject to the eligibility requirements and assessment criteria. We reserve the right to create future rounds for any funding not allocated for any reason.

One eligible applicant per project and the applicant will be responsible for project management and funding acquittal requirements.

Eligible Applicants

An organisation that a majority of members or customers are based within the Tablelands Regional Council area, and meets one of the following criteria:

  • A properly constituted not-for-profit organisation or for-profit organisation (where the intended project will not return a direct profit to the applicant)
  • A charitable organisation registered or sanctioned under the Collections Act 1966
  • A properly constituted organisation acting as auspice for an individual or unincorporated group

Applicants may act as an auspice for an individual or unincorporated group by accepting all responsibility for funded activities.

Ineligible Applicants

An organisation, group or individual that:

  • Has not finalised acquittal requirements for previous Council funding
  • Has overdue or outstanding debts to Council
  • Is a government agency or department
  • Is political or discriminatory

Ineligible Costs

  • Ongoing salaries or wages for staff or volunteers
  • Recurrent costs associated with day-to-day operations of an organisation or group
  • Retrospective funding
  • Activities already funded by Council
  • Prize money or gifts
  • Insurance
  • Business or commercial ventures that solely benefit a single business or narrow collective of interests
