Nursery Future
The operation of Tablelands Regional Council’s Community Revegetation Nursery will continue according to its endorsed business plan after a decision made at last week’s Ordinary Council Meeting.
‘Our nursery has been in operation for nearly 40 years,’ said Deputy Mayor Dave Bilney.
‘The staff and volunteers there propagate locally collected seeds and provide these plants to residents, community groups, schools, restoration and revegetation professionals, and commercial clients.
‘The nursery has been operating under a Council-endorsed business plan and is exceeding its forecasted performance.
‘But the nursery is more than just growing plants — it also provides a range of environmental, social and economic benefits to our region that are difficult to quantify, but may actually exceed the cost of this service.
‘The future of the nursery has been repeatedly questioned over many years and by more than one Council group, so I’m pleased the decision made at last week’s meeting will secure the future of this important community asset,’ the Deputy Mayor said.
