Work Continues at Millaa Millaa Falls
Implementation of the Millaa Millaa Falls Improvement Plan is continuing, with the design and approvals for stages 3, 4 and 5 being finalised in the coming months.
‘We’re hoping to have the designs and construction drawings completed and all necessary approvals in place for stages 3–5 this financial year so we can commence construction of stages 3 and 4 later this year,’ said Deputy Mayor Dave Bilney.
‘These two stages include a new accessible toilet block and new lower parking area.
‘We’re committed to improving the appearance, accessibility, presentation and functionality of this very important natural asset, now and into the future.
‘We want to ensure we protect the area while increasing tourism and economic outcomes and improving the visitor experience.
‘Stages 1 and 2 were completed last financial year and included the removal of old infrastructure and the construction of a new staircase between the upper and lower car parks.
‘At the ordinary Council meeting today we resolved to designate the top car park for bus and general visitor vehicle parking, and to exclude class 3, 4 and 6 vehicles from parking in the lower car park.
‘These arrangements will ensure this important tourist destination has an inclusive and functional parking arrangement by balancing needs of general visitors, tour operators and people with mobility issues.
‘I look forward to seeing these and futures stages progress for this important project for Millaa Millaa and the wider Tablelands,’ said Deputy Mayor Dave Bilney.
