Every Week Is Mental Health Week
Queensland Mental Health Week (QMHW) (8–16 October) is an annual awareness week that shines a spotlight on individual and community mental health and wellbeing.
Tablelands Regional Council is joining with community partners to support two free events in the region.
‘This year’s QMHW theme is ‘Awareness. Belonging. Connection’, which reflects the important factors that help people maintain positive mental health and wellbeing,’ said Mayor Rod Marti.
‘The Tablelands Ageing Well Expo (9am–1pm Thursday 6 October 2022 at Merriland Hall in Atherton) and Malanda Mental Health and Volunteer Event (2–5pm Tuesday 11 October at ECHO Neighbourhood House) are opportunities to find out how we can enhance our social and emotional wellbeing by building our personal resilience and support networks.
‘Poor mental health affects more than one in five Australians every year but you don’t need to wait for QMHW to connect with our services to maintain positive mental health and wellbeing.
‘Check out your local library for great resources and activities, and our information centres to find out about things to see and do across the region.
‘Find a volunteering opportunity, community organisation and recreation club through our community directory and enjoy a community event to continue learning, connect with others, and get healthy and active,’ said Mayor Marti.
