Join the Connect Fest for Seniors’ Month

Tablelands Regional Council is celebrating Seniors’ Month with a free Ageing Well Expo and regional events throughout October.

‘The theme of this year’s celebrations is ‘Social Connections’ and people of all ages, cultures and abilities can connect and celebrate the important and essential roles older people play in our community,’ said Deputy Mayor Kevin Cardew.

‘The Ageing Well Expo will be hosted by Richard Dinnan and is a great opportunity to hear from a range of experts including guest speakers from Council on the Ageing (COTA), Inclusive Communities Project, Community Allied Health and Cairns Community Legal Centre.

‘Enjoy demonstrations, join a club and get a free health and hearing check.

‘Sit back and enjoy the guest speakers, entertainment, free light refreshments and advice from the many professional organisations.

‘Andrew Matthews, our keynote speaker, is a bestselling author and motivational speaker and he will be cartooning during his speech.

‘The expo is at 9.30am–2pm on Saturday 9 October at Merriland Hall in Atherton and the celebrations don’t stop there.

‘Throughout October we’ll be hosting regional events and activities so be sure you don’t miss out.

‘If you’re doing something to celebrate Seniors’ Month, remember to register it on our events calendar,’ said Deputy Mayor Cardew.
