Funding Success!

Tablelands Regional Council Mayor Rod Marti is delighted with the recent success of external funding applications for betterment and infrastructure projects in the region.

In his Mayoral Minute at yesterday’s Ordinary Council Meeting, the Mayor detailed the successful projects the funding will cover.

‘We have received $1.7M from the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) to upgrade 15 gully crossings in the southern part of our region.

‘These improvements will make a significant difference to the resilience of our roads, and to the residents and producers who use them — and they’re 100% externally funded.

‘The roads are:

  • Top Nettle-Mt Misery Rd, Silver Valley (four crossings)
  • Wairuna Rd, Minnamoolka (three crossings)
  • Nymbool Rd, Mount Garnet (two crossings)
  • Glen Gordon Rd, Innot Hot Springs (two crossings)
  • Wild River Rd, Millstream (two crossings)
  • Glen Gordon Rd, Innot Hot Springs (one crossing)
  • James Rd, Herberton (one crossing)

‘We also received $716k to upgrade the Wild River crossing on Moomin Road to a concrete causeway.

‘Our application to the Residential Activation Fund resulted in $2.1M of funding across four projects — Peakes Gully trunk sewer construction, Malanda booster pump station, Cook Street sewer pump station and pressure main (design), and Logan and Loder streets trunk water main (design).

‘And while this funding requires some TRC financial input, the Queensland Government’s contribution towards these integral projects is significant.

‘Our 2025–26 budget will be amended to reflect these changes at our first review.

‘I thank the staff who worked tirelessly to put these funding applications together and congratulate them on their success.

‘I also acknowledge our CEO who initiated preparation for the Residential Activation Fund applications prior to commencing her role with TRC,’ Mayor Marti said.

The road crossing and causeway projects are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments through the DRFA.

The Residential Activation Fund is provided by the Queensland Government.
