Funding For The Community
Funding is still available from Tablelands Regional Council’s Community Grants Program.
‘We provide grants of up to $1000 for not-for-profit groups and organisations across a range of criteria,’ said Deputy Mayor Kevin Cardew.
‘In 2020–21, this grant program provided $57,080 to 15 community events ($6438), 46 community organisations ($39,603), five sporting events ($2789) and 34 youth grants ($8250).
‘The funding isn’t just for cash, we also provide in-kind assistance including the use of our wheelie bins, tables, chairs and other event equipment, and the reimbursement of our fees like for food licenses and hall hire.
‘We also support our young achievers with funding for academic, sporting and cultural endeavours, and the development of innovative projects.
‘This financial year we’ve already supported many events including the Mount Garnet Social Golf Competition, Tinaroo Barra Bash and Herberton New Year’s Eve Street Party.
‘We’ve also reimbursed fees for food licenses for organisations like Meals on Wheels Inc and hall hire fees for the Kairi Children’s Rainbow Fair.
‘Some of our in-kind support this year has included traffic cones for The Dam Outrigger Regatta; tables, chairs and marquees for the Atherton Turf Club race days; and bins for the Tinaroo Sailing Club May Day Regatta.
‘And these are just some of the examples of how our funding has helped the community.
‘We still have funding available and I can’t encourage you enough to apply for our support,’ said Deputy Mayor Cardew.
