Free Workshop for Disability Support

Tablelands Regional Council is hosting a free workshop to provide education, practical tools and strategies to better prepare people with disabilities for emergencies.

‘The Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (P-CEP) Workshop is designed for disability service providers, support workers and carers to help them tailor emergency preparedness plans according to each client’s unique support needs,’ said Local Disaster Management Group Chair Mayor Rod Marti.

‘By strengthening the skills and confidence of support workers, carers and community members we are building community capacity and helping to create a more prepared, connected and inclusive region.

‘The free workshop is 9am–12noon Wednesday 5 November at the Coordination Centre, 15 Vernon Street, Atherton and it includes a complimentary morning tea,’ Mayor Marti said.

Places are limited so register online or on 1300 362 242 by Tuesday 28 October.
