The Rural Active Free Exercise Program is back!

Tablelands Regional Council is again offering their popular free Rural Active Exercise Program for men and women aged 40 and over in the Tablelands region.

‘The programs aim to increase physical activity participation among people aged 40+ on the Tablelands, contributing to their overall health and wellbeing,’ said Deputy Mayor, Dave Bilney.

‘The program is inclusive of all abilities, social and economic backgrounds, experience levels and health conditions, and encourages ongoing positive behaviour change and healthy habits’.

‘The Rural Active Exercise program focuses on strengthening core muscle groups, improving cardiovascular fitness and joint range of movement, resistance-based exercises and improving functional strength to aid in falls prevention’.

‘The new Rural Active Men’s program will concentrate on cardio and strength’.

‘An accredited exercise physiologist will demonstrate, instruct and supervise participants’.

‘Places are limited so register as soon as can so you don’t miss out!,’ Deputy Mayor Bilney said.

Rural Active Women Program

Following the success of past Rural Active Women, Tablelands Regional Council (TRC) is again running this free initiative for Tableland Ladies aged 40 and over. The following class is available:

  • Cardio and Strength Circuits — Tuesdays 9.00–10.00am, 27 January – 31 March at Merriland Hall, Atherton.

Rural Active Men Program

On the back of successful Rural Active Men program, TRC is inviting men aged 40 and over to come and feel the benefits of the program. The following class is available:

  • Cardio and Strength Circuits — Tuesdays 10.15 –11.15am, 27 January – 31 March at Merriland Hall, Atherton.

Rural Active Mixed Program (Men and Women)

These classes offer a welcoming and inclusive space for participants aged 40+ to come together, build connections, and develop new skills while enhancing health and well-being. The following classes are available:

  • Cardio and Strength CircuitsThursdays 8.30am – 9.30am, 29 January – 2 April, Ravenshoe Town Hall
  • Cardio and Strength CircuitsThursdays 10.30am – 11.30am, 29 January – 2 April, Millaa Millaa RSL
