The Qingming Ceremony is a revered tradition that allows us to pay homage to our ancestors by maintaining their burial sites and offering gifts as a symbol of respect and remembrance. This year, we invite you to participate in a range of activities designed to deepen your understanding of Chinese Daoist burial practices and the significance of the Qingming Festival.

Event Highlights:

• Guided Tours: Engage in half-hour guided tours from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, where you will learn about Chinese Daoist burial practices and the cultural significance of the Qingming Festival (Tomb Sweeping Day).
• Pioneer Cemetery Tour: Join our experienced guides and special guest Henry Wah Day at 10.30 am and 12.30 pm for a 1-hour tour of the Pioneer Cemetery, exploring its historical significance and stories.
• Chinese Tea Tasting: Indulge in Chinese tea tasting at noon while learning about the ancient art of tea making and its medicinal uses. Traditional sweets will complement this immersive experience.
• Explore the Chinese Museum: From 10.00 am to 2.00 pm, discover the rich history and artifacts at the Chinese Museum, offering insights into Chinese culture and heritage.
• Old Post Office Gallery Exhibition: Don’t miss the “All Things Eucalyptus” exhibition by Marjorie Beattie at the Old Post Office Gallery, celebrating Australia’s iconic eucalypts through mixed media and handmade jewellery.
