Priors Creek and Mabel Street Precinct Development Application
As an important next step in the Community Asset Divestment Process, Tablelands Regional Council has lodged a development application seeking a Variation Request over land within the Priors Creek and Mabel Street Precincts in Atherton.
Council has lodged the application in its capacity as landowner and the application is being independently assessed.
A variation request seeks to change the planning framework that applies to a specific site. If approved, future development applications on the land will be assessed against that approved framework rather than the current planning scheme. A variation request does not approve any buildings or development works.
The purpose of the application is to support a broader range of future development opportunities within the Priors Creek and Mabel Street Precincts, including tourism, accommodation, housing, retail and commercial activities. The application seeks to position the precincts as active, connected and investment-ready destinations while supporting housing choice, economic development and the ongoing revitalisation of the Atherton town centre.
