Disaster Plan Approved
The annual review of Tablelands Regional Council’s Local Disaster Management Plan (LDMP) was endorsed at last week’s Ordinary Council Meeting.
‘The LDMP is the overarching document that details structures, management arrangements and governance that underpin disaster management in our region,’ said Tableland Local Disaster Management Group Chair Mayor Rod Marti.
‘It’s an integral document that guides how we prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters.
‘Our community is not immune from disasters that have the potential to disrupt our social networks, economy, infrastructure and environment.
‘It’s important we are prepared and have effective and coordinated disaster management arrangements in place.
‘This LDMP provides our community with a robust, multi-agency framework to ensure there is an effective and coordinated response to disasters.
‘It is a dynamic, risk-based document that reflects current legislation, our region’s risk profile and learnings from previous disasters.
‘Ensuring a speedy return to a safe and secure environment after a disaster is our priority and I congratulate the staff and agencies involved with ensuring this document is up to date, and our region is prepared for possible disasters,’ Mayor Marti said.
