Tablelands Tomorrow

Tablelands Tomorrow is a free, innovative and local career guidance program for Tablelanders aged 15–24 years. The program educates, supports and inspires young people looking for work, education and training opportunities. Participants will learn about different industries, current and emerging occupations, study and career pathways.

Tablelands Tomorrow is being delivered by TRC and Vocational Partnerships Group Inc. (VPG) and will occur over three stages:

  1. Career guidance and exploration (free individualised 1hr one-on-one sessions)
  2. Career readiness workshops (free group-based skills and careers development activities)
  3. Career tasters (to create local connections with employers and industry by showcasing a wide range of occupations).


  • People aged 15–24
  • Permanent residents of the TRC local government area.
  • Parent or guardian consent if under 18 years.
  • Openness to constructive advice and willingness to try new approaches.

1 Career Guidance & Exploration

These 1hr individualised one-on-one career development and exploration sessions are conducted with our Career Guidance and Support Advisor. They are for young people who are exploring or changing careers, and entering or re-entering the workforce. The sessions include practical activities and tools to help make informed decisions about career interests and pathway preferences and participants may be referred to career readiness, career tasters and/or existing pathways such as start-up programs, higher education or training.

Ravenshoe Community Centre, 3 Bolton Street

  • 1hr sessions between 9.00am and 2.00pm
  • Tuesdays from 13 September to 25 October

Coordination Centre, 15 Vernon Street in Atherton

  • 1hr sessions between 9.00am and 2.30pm
  • Wednesdays from 14 September to 26 October

ECHO Empowering Services, 11–15 Eacham Place in Malanda

  • 1hr sessions between 9.00am and 2.30pm
  • Thursdays from 15 September to 27 October

Tablelands Tomorrow Career Readiness Workshops focus on career development and employability skills training for young people who are ready to transition into the workforce, change careers or be better prepared to secure a job. Support includes:

  • careers advice
  • resume preparation, cover letters and selection criteria
  • interview skills
  • Australian work culture, workers’ rights and common documents
  • growth of the region and job opportunities into the future
  • employability skills development
  • benefits of networking and volunteering.


  • Sound literacy and numeracy skills, English proficiency and good typing skills.
  • Good computer and technology literacy.
  • Commitment to attend all workshop days.

Tablelands Tomorrow is supporting local employers by raising the profile of in-demand skills in our region and connecting them with young Tablelanders. Our Career Taster opportunities include:

  • participating in career speed dating events with potential opportunity for jobs, work placements or volunteering
  • hosting a workplace visit
  • hosting a training centre visit
  • recording a video testimonial or workplace tour
  • being a guest speaker to provide insight and overview of skills within the workplace and industry.

We have opened expressions of interest (EOI) from employers and industry (health, social assistance, primary and retail sectors specifically) to partner with us to deliver three industry-led experiences (career tasters) between December 2022 and April 2023. EOIs are open until Monday 31 October 2022.
