Apology

In June 2025, the Council published a media release concerning the public narrative around the condition of the Patrick English Pavilion. It has been brought to Council’s attention that the release asserted that Mr Matt Lachlan had acted dishonestly and deliberately in a manner designed to deceive the public in relation to that debate. The Council’s comments should not be interpreted in that way – to do so would be false.

It was not intended that the publication have that effect or carry any such allegation, and any such suggestion may be rejected. The Council and in particular the Mayor and CEO Dr Stepanov apologise to Mr Lachlan for the hurt and harm suffered should anyone have interpreted the publication in that way.
