Traffic Study

Purpose of the Study

Tablelands Regional Council has engaged Bitzios Consulting to undertake a pedestrian, parking and traffic study for the Kuranda village.

The purpose of this study is to undertake a technical assessment of existing traffic and transport issues around Kuranda village and to then identify and prioritise improvement measures for pedestrians, traffic and parking. The study's recommendations will then be considered by Tablelands Regional Council for funding and implementation.

Council’s objectives for the study include:

A review of the effectiveness and functional performance of pedestrian and traffic management measures previously introduced by Council and identify additional measures or modifications as required;
Where appropriate, to provide concept design of pedestrian and traffic management measures to achieve the objectives;
To review the existing road layout in consideration of future land use patterns;
To review current parking demand and identify deficiencies and plan for improved efficiencies;
To provide future road network planning infrastructure development by way of functional network hierarchy; and
Recommend short, medium and long term actions that identify and respond to local residents' and tourist operators' concerns on traffic matters and other road related issues and determine whether, and to what extent, improvement measures are warranted
