New Figtree Close bridge begins to take shape

The new Figtree Close Bridge at Malanda is beginning to take shape.

Work is progressing well on the new structure which replaces a culvert that was severely damaged as a consequence of flood flows from Cyclone Tasha on Christmas Day 2010.

Since that date, Figtree Close has been closed to traffic due to the loss of one of the corrugated steel culverts and the inability of the existing structure to handle traffic flows.

Council is striving to complete the $591,000 project by the end of the year, but delays could be experienced due to inclement weather.
