The Local Government Amendment Regulation (No.1) 2011 has changed the requirements for the register of interests for Councillors and related persons. The new requirements aim to:

• Create greater consistency between disclosure of Councillors and MPs
• Improve transparency and public accessibility of Councillors' interests
• Further clarify the disclosure requirements for relevant persons to ensure compliance
