TABLELANDS Regional Council has extended assistance to events or organisations from Yungaburra to Ravenshoe under the latest round of its Financial and In Kind Support program.
The Far North Queensland Cutting Horse Association was granted $2000 as a one-off cash donation.
The funds will be used to help bring judges to the Association’s six events, cattle hire and transport and cattle feed.
The Association’s events include the annual NQCHA Cutting Spectacular, to be held in October.
“These events, at the Association’s grounds at Adams Rd, Yungaburra draw both local and southern competitors to what is a fast-growing sport,” Mayor Rosa Lee Long said.
“It is a pleasure for Council to help where it can.”
Also receiving a $2000 one-off cash donation is the Ravenshoe Community Centre.
“Here the funds will be used to help address storage issues for the Centre,” Councillor Lee Long said.
“The storage is expected to cost more than this but the FIKS contribution will assist with solving the present lack of storage.”
Also approved at the meeting was a remittance of fees for the Millaa Millaa Masonic Lodge.
“This relates to the costs of an application to change a development approval for a former lodge at Millaa Millaa.”
Adventure HQ Inc and Tinaroo Tourism and Recreation Group were also granted help to the tune of $156 in in-kind assistance toward their annual Summer Weekend – Come And Try event to be held this weekend. (February 23 and 24).
