Funding for Arts & Cultural Initiatives

Supporting the professional development and employment of arts and cultural workers in regional Queensland, the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) program is a partnership between State Government (through Arts Queensland) and Council.

Local arts and cultural workers can apply to Council for one-off funding for: professional services, travel costs to attend seminars, productions, exhibitions, workshops, research and promotion.
During each funding round, individuals and organisations are encouraged to seek assistance for:

  • Professional services to amateur arts activity.
  • Travel costs for artists attending specialised seminars/workshops for Individual Professional Development.
  • Professional components of projects such as residencies, productions, commissions, exhibitions, short term workshops, research and promotion.
  • Networking, training and professional development for local artworkers

How RADF works

Each Council bids for an annual allocation of funding for the region from Arts Queensland. This is managed through a locally run RADF Committee (made up of arts representatives from across the geographical region and arts sectors) who make recommendations to Council for local allocation of funds. Applications are assessed against criteria based in the RADF program guidelines and priorities identified in Council's Arts & Cultural Plan which is available by clicking here.

RADF is a competitive process. There may not be enough funds available to support all the applications received in any given round.

RADF Round One (1) for 2011-12 opened from August 1 and closed at 4.30pm on Friday, 16 September 2011 for projects commencing after 31 October 2011.  Here you can view the list of Successful Applicants.

Round Two (2) for 2011-12 will open in March 2012 and closes at 4.30pm on Friday, 27 April 2012 for projects commencing after 11 June 2012

For more information contact the Council's RADF Liaison Officer (RLO) on 4043 4112, email ArtsOfficer [at] trc [dot] qld [dot] gov [dot] au or visit Arts Queensland website via this link at http://www.arts.qld.gov.au/funding/radf.html.
