The Sustainable Planning Act 2009 replaced the Integrated Planning Act 1997 on 18 December 2009. For information on transitioning from the Integrated Planning Act to the Sustainable Planning Act click here.

The Sustainable Planning Act provides the framework for processing development applications, managing the effects of development on the environment and integrating local, regional and state planning.

Information on the Sustainable Planning Act is available through the Department of Infrastructure and Planning website:

When a development application requires public advertising, members of the community can make submissions either in support of or objecting to, a proposed development. Development applications are made public by a notice on the land, advertisements in newspapers or by a letter to adjoining land owners.

Submissions outlining your case and any supporting information, need to be sent to the Chief Executive Officer, Tablelands Regional Council, by the closing date.

If you make a submission within the required period and you are not happy with Council's decision on a development proposal, you can appeal through the Planning and Environment Court.
